Astu Foundation is a promise—a promise of dignity, hope, and unwavering support to our Bengaluru community. Our work is a continuous circle of care, touching lives at every stage. We empower women to build their own futures and guide blind children towards independence. We stand with cancer patients, offering comfort and care in their time of need, and ensure our elders live their final years with the respect they have earned. We build the very foundations for this work: the shelters, classrooms, and centers where these stories of resilience and transformation come to life.
Astu Foundation wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born on the streets of Bengaluru in the year 2018. Our founder, Priya Sharma, witnessed a moment she couldn't forget: a bright young girl sorting scrap materials near Majestic, her potential being lost one day at a time. That moment was a turning point. It wasn't enough to feel sympathy; we knew we had to act.
Our journey began small, with a few friends pooling their resources to ensure that one girl, and then a few others in her small community, had the books, uniforms, and fees they needed to attend school. This simple act of kindness sparked a fire. We quickly realized the needs of our community were vast and interconnected.
From that single spark, Astu Foundation grew. It evolved from one person's promise into a community's movement, expanding to support children, empower women, care for our elders, and stand with those in crisis. Our story is still being written every day, and it's a story of hope, resilience, and the incredible power of community.
